紐約佛光青年響應抗癌健行【人間社記者Frank 紐約報導】
10月16日，紐約佛光青年團熱烈響應由美國防癌協會所舉辦的抗乳癌健行(Making Stride Against Breast Cancer Walk)，向乳癌患者表達敬意，慶祝康復者新生。
今年在負責人Amy Deng和Albee Chen兩位青年努力下，以電子郵件和Facebook向大家推廣，透過美國防癌協會提供的線上募款網頁，共募集近500美元善款，號召19位團員參加位於中央公園的健行活動。
團員們表示明年將發心繼續募款支持美國防癌協會對癌症的研究與預防，也希望能召集更多青年，組隊成為健行活動的義工，承擔收拾等等不同的工作，協助圓滿抗乳癌健行這麼具有意義的活動。
On October 16th, BLIA-YAD New York raised four hundred and sixty five dollars for American Cancer Society and participated in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Central Park. We have nineteen members participated and completed the five miles walk under two and half hours. Everyone was excited for our team effort to raise fund to help save lives from breast cancer. Several of us are also interested in becoming volunteers for the event in the future to help distribute water and cheering for the survivors. Last year we exceed the five hundred dollars team goal and we almost hit the goal again this year. This is also the first year that all donations were collected online through our team site. We are happy to see how we can provide more support for such great cause again next October
